Events in October

There’s lots going on this month, from print fairs to Light Nights, to a whole week dedicated to celebrating fantastic design.

Bradford Print Fair at The Bradford Club, Piece Hall Yard
Saturday 5th October
A fair full of jazzy prints by local independent artists, with everything from lino, letterpress and silkscreen, this truly is a print lovers dream.

Light Night around Leeds
Thursday 10th & Friday 11th October
The UK’s largest annual arts and light festival is back, taking over the city with over 60 free art events, lighting installations, exhibitions and performances. The city has been split into 11 unique zones to celebrate the theme of ‘Mind, Body and Spirit.'

Introduction to Laser Cutting at Makerspace Hull
Wednesday 16th October
Laser cutting is such a fun process but it’s not something that typically comes up often in studio briefs – now’s your chance to try something new and create a lasercut piece in this Makerspace workshop.

Design legend and Central Saint Martins alumnus Patrick Thomas lives in Germany, but the team at Sheffield Hallam has snapped him up on his UK tour to join their ‘Curated By…’ series. Make sure you book place as this event is free and sure to be popular.

York Design Week around York

There’s so much to get involved with during the York Design Week, from tech talks, drawing workshops, to open studios. There’s something for everyone, so be sure to check out their website for more info on each event.

Batik Workshop at The Peppercorn, Huddersfield
Thursday 31st October 
Snub Hallowe’en celebrations this year and turn your attention to learning something new… Batik is a textile surface pattern technique which is fun and easy to pick up. The workshop is based in a nice vegan café so it’s a win-win evening.
