What do you do?
I'm a Scottish artist and independent designer specialising in typography and lettering.
...However, to leave it there would be a gross understatement!
Craig is best known for his bespoke and innovative typographic artworks, lettering, and visual identities as well as large-scale murals and installations. He’s a pro when it comes to the art of the paint pour and has seen his work celebrated and exhibited everywhere from London and New York to Sydney and Dubai.
Working with the likes of UEFA, OFFF and Rangers Football Club - not mentioning his countless other private commissions and projects - there isn’t much this guy hasn’t had a hand in, and he’s just getting started!
What are you typically doing every day at 9am? What makes your job easier?
I'm usually taking care of my little girl Olivia and getting her ready for the day ahead at 9 am, that's my main priority. Making a plan of attack for the week ahead and prioritising what is the most important task makes my job easier.
What makes your job harder?
Keeping up with social media content!
Dream job title?
My current title does the trick.
What is the most overused word in your workday?
What misconceptions do you encounter working in your field?
Even though my acrylic fusion paint pouring technique looks easy, it's been crafted for years to make it look like that.
Any advice for those who want to do what you do? What’s your career high point?
Build relationships, connect with people, brands and agencies. Be at the forefront of their minds so when opportunities occur, they think of you. Work hard is a given and use your downtime wisely to invest in self-initiated work that will enhance your portfolio.
My career high point is conquering one of my dream projects in creating the typeface for Rangers Football Club.
What makes your current job different from anything else you’ve done?
I used to kick the footballs before and now I paint on them instead!
