Design & Digital Conferences in 2020

Don’t worry – there isn’t much on in January so you won’t fall off the wagon with all the free booze and brownies that tend to fly around at all the Leeds design and digital events! Instead, we’ve collated our list of the most exciting and hotly anticipated events from around the UK. Granted these aren’t all in the North, but they’re all worth hopping on a train for, and are great learning opportunities.
If you have a learning and development budget through work, now’s a good time to spend it on some early bird tickets!

The UX Conference
London, 2nd – 3rd March
This conference has the perfect format – one day of talks, followed by one day of workshops for only 300 attendees. The collaborative approach harnesses knowledge and speakers from Dyson, Airbnb, Nike, Shopify, and other inspirational companies. Ticket prices ain’t cheap, so this is probably one to speak to your boss about!

UX Camp
Brighton, dates TBC, usually early March
Described as an ‘unconference’ for anyone involved or interested in user experience design, product design, user research, interaction design, information architecture, usability, accessibility and other associated fields.

Dublin, 3rd – 5th April
If you fancy travelling that little bit further for your inspiration, go ahead and check out Offset. We loved it when it came to Sheffield a few years ago, but this world-class design festival is just a short Ryanair flight away. Fantastic speakers are already lined up, including two dream creative companies – Lego and Channel 4.

Leeds Digital Festival
Leeds, 20th April – 1st May
You should probably be familiar with this amazing digital festival by now, but here’s a brief synopsis just in case: last year, 25,000 attendees took part in 240 events in 96 amazing venues across our very own city. Everybody is welcome and the events are always varied; with this year promising to be bigger and better than ever, you’re sure to find something to tickle your fancy.

Birmingham Design Festival
Birmingham, 5th – 6th June
Morag Mysercough and Brian Collins are already lined up to explore this year’s theme of Colour. A full schedule will be released in April, and will work around one day of workshops, then one day of conference. It’s the third year of the festival and we have high hopes for another great event.

London Design Festival
London, 12th – 20th September
Celebrating our very own capital as the design capital of the world, London Design Fest goes hard. They already have a hot list of impressive galleries they’ve partnered with, exhibitions lined up and speakers at the ready.

We hope that’s whet your appetite for learning new skills this year; we are so fortunate in the UK that we have the variety of events and opportunities we do. These things can be incredibly niche, so shop around for your perfect event and make the most of it – often they are coupled with drinks receptions and mixers to take advantage of.

Happy new year from all at Craft – if you’re looking to kick off the decade with a brand new job, we’re the right people to speak to. Experts in recruiting for design, marketing and digital agencies, we pride ourselves on finding you the right fit. Just drop us an email!
